YEARBOOK NEWS - If you pre-ordered, you will need your school ID to pick up your book. SENIORS: Yearbook pick-up will be during Senior Chill out on Thursday, May 29th in the Rotunda. We will have 50 extra books available for seniors to purchase at Chill Out. (See info below) UNDERCLASSMEN: Yearbook pick-up will be after school out on Thursday, May 29th in the freshman cafeteria starting at 2:35. If you’re unable to come after school, you can pick up your book in room 1257 from Mrs. Moreno starting May 30th. No books will be given out early. We have a few extra books that are available for $100 with cash or check (made out to SLHS). They will be on sale AFTER SCHOOL on FRIDAY May 30th in Room 1257 on a first-come, first-serve basis.
We are the Champions! Again!” That’s right, your ComedySportz team has done it again. Last night at City-wide Tournament your SLHS team brought home the first place trophy, also known as the ‘Meaningless Cafeteria Tray’. This marks the 4th Championship in 9 years for your ComedySport team. The entire time had a great year and last night Taylor Fono, Hannah Sumers, Danielle Grisko and Noah Patten combined forces to take down the rest of the ComedySportz High School League. If you have any of these students in class please congratulate them. If you have any of the team in class congratulate them as well on a great season. Finally, thanks to all of you that helped make this our biggest and most successful year, ever!
PRING SEMESTER POWER REVIEWS ARE COMING
Reviews will be offered on Monday May 26th, Tuesday May 27th, Wednesday May 28th, and Thursday May 29th from 3:00pm-4:30pm. Tickets for each session are sold in ADVANCE for $5.00 each. CASH ONLY
Tickets will be sold on:
• Thursday May 22nd - 7:00am-7:30am(Main Commons only) and during lunches in both Commons
• Friday May 23rd to Thursday May 29th - During lunches in both Commons
Details including the courses being offered and a ticket request form will be posted on the SLHS website under more news on Tuesday May 20th.
The Seven Lakes Orchestras will be closing out their final formal concert of the year TONIGHT, with the “Symphony of Rock,” a tribute concert to Classic Rock of the ‘60s, ‘70’s, ‘80s, and ‘90s. Listen to rock classics from the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Queen, Nirvana, and more! The concert starts at 7pm in the Seven Lakes Performing Arts Center and is free.
All students who are going to be PALs for the 2014-2015 school year need to go by Room 1006 in the freshmen center and see Coach Beck for summer information before Thursday May 22.
Students interested in participating in the Salsa club next year are invited to attend a brief meeting Friday May 23. The meeting will be from 2:40 until 3:15 in Mrs. Chardola’s room, 1261.
Reminder to anyone interested on going on the close up trip to Washington D.C next year. There is a meeting this Thursday night at the ESC, which is next to the Merrill Center, in the board room at 7 pm. If you cannot make the meeting, but still want to sign up please stop by Ms. Ratcliffe’s room- 1601.
Throughout the week of May 20th, the Seven Lakes UIL Academic Team competed in the UIL State Championships. The team came in third place overall. The spelling team won the state championship and added a 13th State Championship to the UIL Academic Team’s history book. The spelling team is composed of Andi Qi, who took 2nd place as an individual, Sameer Suresh, Meera Devarajan, and Aniket Joshi. The Seven Lakes computer science team took 2nd place at state. The team is composed of Jacob Van Geffen, who took 2nd place individually, Tres Brenan, who took fourth place, Colby Brown, and Miguel Obregon. The Seven Lakes literary criticism took 2nd place at state. The team is composed of Nicole Ting, who took 5th place individually, Adesh Thapliyal, who took 6th place, Grace Kim, and Angel Zhang. Ren Weeden won third place in Poetry.
